Cool Upcoming Events in Hub Vilnius

Happy 2012 folks! 

I hope you all had a blast during festive season and now are happily back to work :) I am also back to my New Years resolution commitments. So lets get started - 3 great events are taking place in Hub Vilnius this January, all of them worth coming to: 1. Global Jelly Week @Hub Vilnius, 2. Hub Camp #2, 3. The Global Game Jam Vilnius  
  1. Global Jelly Week @Hub Vilnius
On Friday, 20th of January, 2012. From 8am to 8pm.

In Hub Vilnius North Town (Šiaurės miestelio technologijų parke, J.Galvydžio g. 5, Vilniuje) and Hub Vilnius Gedimino 9 (NVO "Avilys", Gedimino 9, IIIa, Vilniuje)  

What is Jelly? Jelly is a casual working event. It's taken place in over a hundred cities (116 in 30 countries this time) where people have came together (in a person's home, a coffee shop, or an office) to work for the day (read more about Jelly Week here)Hub Vilnius will provide chairs and sofas, wireless Internet, coffee (!) and interesting people to talk to, collaborate with, and bounce ideas off.

You bring a laptop (or whatever you need to get your work done) and a friendly disposition. Register by sending and email to info@hubvilnius.lt and introduce yourself in Facebook event Global Jelly Week @Hub Vilnius

It is a second Hub Camp, you can read about Hub Camp #1. Hub Camps are open even events, everyone is welcome to come, listen, discuss, meet Hub'ers and etc. Hub Camps are inspired by BarCamp Lithuania.

The Lithuanian Game Jam will take place on 27th-29th January, 2012, in Vilnius [in Hub Vilnius North Town (Šiaurės miestelio technologijų parke, J.Galvydžio g. 5, Vilniuje)] and Kaunas and will be a part of the Global Game Jam:

The  Global Game Jam™ (GGJ), an IGDA event, today announced that registration for the 2012 Global Game Jam is underway, allowing interested people to secure their spot at one of the many locations worldwide. This will mark the fourth year of the event, which brings together students, hobbyists and professionals to team up and create complete, playable games over the course of a single weekend.

“This global event continues to foster creativity in a friendly atmosphere of cooperation and education. Game projects are not even limited to the digital variety,” said Foaad Khosmood, GGJ director.

GGJ co-founder and 2012 director, Ian Schreiber, emphasized the scale of participation. “For GGJ 2011, we had over 1,500 games created by over 6,500 people in 44 countries. We've grown every year, and expect 2012 to continue this trend."
