Top Startup Cities in US

Recently had a chance to participate in US Embassy in Lithuania event about setting up and investing in US&A. In event learned about SelectUSA, "a government-wide initiative to encourage, facilitate, and accelerate business investment in the United States". Basically, SelectUSA helps companies navigate the U.S. market with its 50 states and 6 territories, do research before picking location or market entry. Found it pretty useful, so would recommend to visit www.selectusa.gov and check out @SelectUSA or LinkedIn to learn more.

Here are some stats and research that SelectUSA pointed me to, should be relevant to all startups that are fundraising or looking where to settle in US:

Top 20 startup cities based on VC funding in 2014:
1. San Francisco, $9.32 billion, 506 deals
2. San Jose, California (Silicon Valley), $3.78 billion, 237 deals
3. New York, $3.05 billion, 272 deals
4. Boston, $1.05 billion, 158 deals
5. Los Angeles-Long Beach, California (Silicon Beach), $768 million, 105 deals

Top 100 startup cities by VC funding:
